Resolve Defects (C/C++)
Finding bugs is nice. Fixing bugs is better. Coverity understands how source code analysis fits into your development process, and Prevent provides you with all of the tools you need to turn that bug list into a list of fixes. The Prevent defect navigator provides an intuitive interface to understand, diagnose, and resolve the issues that have been uncovered in your code:
In the defect navigator, source code is displayed in a fully cross-referenced, hyperlinked interface that allows users to click from uses to definitions, as well as from definitions to a list of all uses. This helps developers triage difficult cross-functional bugs much faster. The Prevent workflow manager provides a customizable series of workflow stages and steps that allow users to build bug-fix processes around the defects that are reported. The workflow manager allows you to easily subdivide your code base into logical groupings and to assign owners to each group. When a defect is reported, it is automatically assigned to the owner of the component and an automatic email notification is sent out. Custom workflow stages allow you to set a series of “actions” that determine the steps to carry a bug from detection to resolution. The analytics engine allows you to report on your progress through the various resolution stages. Several prebuilt reports help you subdivide the results based on component, owner, or defect type, to better understand what defects are in your code base and where they occur. Within reports, defect trends help you understand the rates at which defects are introduced and fixed. Comparisons of analysis runs across time help you clearly understand, run by run, what defects have been introduced in your code base, what has disappeared, and what still remains.
